Whats ur favorite 22 LR ammo u use for squirrel etc???
I started shootin the CCI Velocitors last year & for a hard hitter they're darn accurate compared to some others.
(1) 40 grain gilded hollow point nose at 1435 ft/sec:
(2) 22 percent greater energy at 100 yards than regular high-speed hollow points;
(3)Special HP cavity design, derived from Speer Gold Dot technology, retains virtually 100 percent bullet weight;
(4)Clean-burning propellants keep actions cleaner Sure-fire CCI priming;
(5)Reusable plastic box with dispenser lid;
(6) Good for Up to large varmints like coyotes

I too use the Winchester Wildcat 22 LR.
I am partial to the "Bang - Pause - Wack" ;D ;D also
These little buggers do a great job on coons 60 feet up an old oak tree. Only problem I've found with that is they flop around too much when they hit the ground(ruins the fur)
I even use them for the occassional groundhog under the tool shed. You got to be real close to kill em though.

i buy the wildcats 500 count brick at a time....last time i bought them was bout 10 years ago....i also have the wildcat solids also, does less damage goes right through without acting like the hollow point exspantion....still have 6 50 count boxes of them from the brick i bought of them most likely 15 years ago....lol....it's the only thing i've found that my marlin 780 likes to spit....went through a bunch of brands before finding these....been shooting them fer 22 years....the groundhogs i've shot at ranges of 50 yards have been a quartering away shot in behind the ribs have just stiff legged and rolled over dead with the hollow points....i think last time i bought the brick they cost me bout 10.00 bucks.................bob

I am quite partial to the Rem golden bullets in 40 grain solids. I also use the hollow points and have been known to use the cheap ones too.

Do you guys really shoot up into a tree with a 22? Something about shooting a 22 UP that bothers me.

Certainly there is reason for concern depending on the backstop and backdrop of the area that you are hunting in. Here in the mountainous areas of north central pa with steep hills as a backdrop and using the tree as a backstop i believe it is just as safe as shooting at game on the ground, as with any shot taken always be sure you know what is behind your target.
