I am wondering what everyone considers their fsavorite shot size for general small game hunting. I prefer to use #6 for everything but do carry a few #4's just in case everything is flushing wild. Have had some luck with 7 1/2's up close but really prefer #6.

#6 for me no matter what caliber I go with.

High Brass #6 for me using an Improved Cylinder choke.
I used to use #7 1/2 with a modified choke but tended to pepper them up pretty good in close, also always found my self under gunned for pheasant until now.

i use an old ithica model 37 16 gauge with no 6 shot. worh great for me

I use the ithaca 37 myself in 16 and 20 favor the 6 shot for everything but turkey!
