If you find yourself with traditional muzzleloading questions over the next several days (Nov. 8-12), "Loggy" has convinced 10 of us neophytes to this wild boar hunting, to join him in Tennessee in an attempt to subdue one of these lovely creatures with our flintlocks.
The membership on PaOutdoors may be reduced considerably after the 12th., as wild, ticked-off Suidae (wild hogs) have their way with us as we stand, un-loaded, after tickling them with our patched round balls. I can see major suits following this hunt from friends and families of these un-suspecting, and gentle, round ball hunters maimed,or worse, at the urging of this 3,000+ posting, moderator!
So, save your traditional questions and comments. Hopefully, someone will be left to respond after this assault on Tennessee is complete!

What a bunch of idiots! Didn't any of them read the Lewis and Clark accounts of the inadequacies of flintlocks against savage grizzlies and the such! What a bunch of bozos! Wait.......I'M one of those idiots. Seriously, about a week ago. I had the History channel on. The narrator was sharing how wild hogs would eat human flesh if given the opportunity. My wife heard this little tidbit before I got smart enough to change the channel. Then at church we were chatting with a rural member of the congregation between services. My wife mentioned about the hog hunt I was sched. for and the history channel episode. He said "Oh absolutely! A farmer who feeds pigs by himself is foolish at best" I'm thinking great! The wife is going to worry unduly or not want her loving husband to be in danger. That night I saw her alone at her desk. She looked deep in thought. As I silently moved up behind her. I saw her fingers tapping out figures on the calculator. As I stood quietly in the shadows, I heard her say. "Hmmmm, I wonder if it's to late to bump up husband's life insurance" Nice to know that your little lady cherishes your value to the family.

Onager, I think Mrs. Berks watched the same show. I explained to her that the folks a Loshboughs remove the tusks of their "wild" hogs at birth, and that we can only shoot them when they move away from their food troughs as we are all stationed in a circle around this feeding area. I'm not sure she bought that.

LOL ;D I don't think I will try that story with my wife. What have her think me a callous murderer of innocent swine? That and she seems so happy now. Talking about what she would do with a sudden insurance windfall. She can't decide if she would put a room on the house first or go on one of those singles cruises. I love seeing her so happy!......I think.

;D You NRA Members that are on the hunt...be sure to let the loved ones that may be left behind that there is a rider there for accidental death while on a Hunting trip!! ;D
The best way for ole Loggy to depart would be on a Turkey Hunting trip...the NWTF PLUS NRA policies would BOTH kick in. Believe you me...i was lookin over my shoulder for a "hit man" while up there turkey huntin last week!! ;D
Kiddin aside, those Wild Boars are pretty quick in takin care of their intruders so wouldnt be too pain to endure! ;D
Like Berks said....will be a void of flintlockers here for a lil while...I hope!! Maybe buckslayer should initiate succession plans.....just in case!! ;D

GreybearJr had warned us that Southern boys don't take a hankerin to the movie. So when Daniel, who owns/runs the ranch, mentioned the movie. I just I wonder if that is why we all declined their invite to hit some local drinking holes. Hmmmmmm.

A couple of times on Friday, before I fell asleep in the tree stand, I thought I heard, "Dueling Banjos" in the distance. I remember checking my primer, and beginning a series of quick neck jerks left and right! I think Bert Reynolds had 4 or 5 broadheads in his quiver. I had one roundball in the barrel!

I thought I heard some snorin down the hollow Berks!! ;D Least you had powder under that roundball unlike some other in our group!! ;D BTW, my Mom just reported that she had an outstanding pork chop dinner tonite!!!!! My Mom has a HUGE Freezer at her place which is where I keep all my meat. At least room for a 400 pound black bear & a coupla more deer! Likely such room will be there after huntin season! ;D
