There was a mix up on my PGC tree order and I got crab apple trees. I got my hands on a bunch of those tan tree tubes for free will these work or do they prefer a more open protective container like wire fence

they will work fine. when you put them up they will act like a little greenhouse for the plants

tess are they 5 ft tall tubes. Their the good ones to keep the deer away till the tree gets bigger.

While your on crab apple trees.... what is the life span of them and are they a plant that drains the soil of nutrients?

My book says life span of this tree is 25-50 yrs. Height is 10-20 ft. Doesnt say anything about draining the nutrients out of the soil. It says they can grow in a wide variety of soils and they need sun.
