Back when I used to use them, a company came out with one that was to compete with the 300. They were called DAM Quick. They were much quieter than the 300 and the action was smoother. Sadly I think they went out of business. I'd love to have one or two of them today.

I'll give you "France".... dang *OLd Fart* always give me *Slack*... The 300 has a lifetime warranty and you have to send them to Id. Doesn't cover when you lose a part from cleaning it... I lost a gear out of one... Don't ask how cause I don't know... Old Timers is a good guess.. ;D MM

I have a few ole 300's my Dad had...made in France. They are down in Moms basement. May have to take a look at them. Also have an ole Mepps Spinning reel I won in a Sports Afield fishing contest about 40 years ago. Its made in France too.
Good thread mauserman! May have to get some of these Frenchers out & see if they need some attention for preservation.
Dont think France is puttin much out anymore outside of the Mepps spinners.

I like the old 300 but they made them in China for awhile and maybe still do I'm not sure... *They were junk* but the old 300 was a work horse.... Must have been a billion made you would think someone would have some *parts reels *around. just goes to show how good they were....What is that saying *The older the fiddle the better the music".. Goes for more than just the fiddle......... Some times the *fiddler* gets better with age! ;D ;D MM

Well you can forget about parts from factory.. Called for 6 parts and didn't have any (Discontinued all 300 parts) When I ask about lifetime *warranty* was told to send reel for replacement. Did that and got a phone call for *Master charge* $22.00 for replacement and $6.40 shipping......... Cost me Almost $3.00 for shipping the old............. Dang *good* warranty.. Heck I can go any shop and buy it for that and still have my old reel. Now I gotta pay for shipping and handling to get it back.... Man did I fall off the turnip truck or what.? ;D MM
