Agree, some of those Premium Factory ammos are out of sight.
I buy all my Premium Hornady Interbonds from Mid South Shooters Supply. They seem to have the best price. Compared to stores several $$ a box cheaper. Shipping is a factor but im usually ordering other stuff from MS anyways.

TIME to start reloading and it has taken a terrible jump also, but it's still cheaper than buying factory direct... I was at my local GANDER MT a few weeks ago and was looking for curiosities sake at Remington 300 SAUM shells...$59.00 - $65.99 depending on what bullet you want..that's REDICULOUS..it's the same bullet as any .30 cal and it actually uses less powder than the other .300 magnums.. EVEN at 50-75 cents a bullet for partitions or X-bullets and 2 cents for a primer and 30 cents for powder.. it would cost you $15 for partition reloads..1/6 the cost, give or take a little...small rifle primers...almost impossible to find..you got em'- keep em under lock and key,, they are more valuable than gold...

any time you get into exotic calibers or short action magnums your going to pay for it,thats why i stick to the basics,im a hunter not a professional shooter so a good ol 30-06 or 308 will suit me just fine a 10.00 a box.

The 454 has to have a tight crimp, I seat the bullet and use a Lee crimp die. So far I haven't had any problems.

Sad part is the 06-08 and all the .300 mags use the exact same bullet, a little more powder and the double the price and then some...who is kidding who, the only difference is a hundred or two feet per second,,,double the cost, no way...this is almost as bad as the gas gouging...

i have to agree with buckslayer on this one, being a hunter my good ole' 130 grain 270 shells at about $13.00 a box suits me just fine. cant see anything more needed then a 270 or 30-06 for deer, anything beyond that is simply "overkill" anyways. sorry guys...but far as the hi tech shooters go, i suppose its a "if ya wanna play' ya gotta pay" type of deal

Most ammo hasn't gone up too bad. For example I can still buy Speer Blazer Brass in .45 ACP for $11.99 a box of 50 at Wally World. The caliber that has taken the biggest hit is .223. It has gone up over 300%, yes, three hundred percent, from what it was a couple of years ago. This in spite of the fact that 1 out of every 4 cartridges Remington produces is .223, or 25% of it's production. And I'm talking commercial production, not military. This has been caused by the AR-15 crowd who are now reloading, as well as hording ammo because of the higher cost. Basically .223 is selling on par with the rest of centerfire ammo like .222, .270, .308, and .30-06. This in spite of the fact many of those cartridges contain twice the amount of lead, copper, and brass. I have several thousand once fired .223, (5.56 MM) cases ready for reloading to feed my wife's 3 AR-15's. The problem is finding any kind of bulk bullets. I have E-Mail notices at Midway for all of their bulk .223 bullets, but for the last 3 months, nothing. Like every other shortage, time will correct it. In the meantime I think this will create better marksmen out of everyone who owns an AR-15 because with the now high ammo cost, they won't be bump firing it into hillsides. They'll actually AIM every shot. Bill T.
