Nice lookin gun!
Found this addl info on it:
Browning Double Auto
Q: My friend is trying to identify a "mystery shotgun" he owns. It is a Browning semiauto 12-gauge (23?4-inch chamber) and is unlike any I've seen before. The receiver appears to be made from aluminum and resembles a Remington 1100. It only holds two shells, one in the chamber and one in a unique cut-out on the left-forward side of the receiver. There is no magazine tube. The 29-inch barrel is marked "Browning Firearms, Made in Belgium" and "Special Steel." Can you identify the model and give me its approximate value? And is there a source for parts? --R.C., Tucson, AZ
A: The gun you describe is a Browning Double Auto, designed by the late Val Browning, son of John M. Browning. This model was manufactured between 1952 and 1971 in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale. There were three variations in 12 gauge only: Standard, Twelvette and Twentyweight. The alloy frame was available in different colors including royal or light blue, satin gray, green, gold, black and brown. You might have measured the barrel length wrong since standard barrel lengths were 26, 261?2 (Twentyweight only), 28 or 30 inches with or without a vent rib. Depending on the condition and model, prices can range from $350 to $700 with a premium being paid for rare color frames. Parts can be found at Numrich Gun Parts Corp., located in West Hurley, New York (www.e-gunparts.com; 866/686-7424). Browning Service may be contacted at (800) 322-4626.
