Hey guy's I wanted to share with you my sucessful hunt I had this spring . My good friend just got back home from Afghanastan on the last week of spring gobbler . He ask me to go to our secret spot for a hunt , I told him I can't walk much anymore but he talked me into it . He stopped to rest after going a little way's making sure I wasn't in to much pain every now and then . We went about the lenght of a football field to our secret honey hole we found before my injury , he called on the way and we got a triple gobble , we sat in front of this big oak tree and he gave a few clucks and pur's and stopped calling , this gobbler was going crazy the whole way to us , I shot him @ 30 yards . I haven't killed a gobbler in almost 4 years because of my injury . He was so happy for me ,and I for him taken time to take me . We took pictures ,went back home to celebrate and drank a couple beer's together and laughed and talked about our hunt. I will always remember how much fun we had that day and hope to have plenty more . I taught him how to turkey hunt a few years back , I told him it was time for him to leave the nest . He just laughed at me. . He is the man even tho I'm still the king of spring...lol he has been a good friend since I met him in 1993 where I was employed and he stuck with the ole cripple.

Thank's guy's , I'm not to keen on this computer I don't know how to post pic's ? Anyway just an update to my back prob's I recieved the spinalcord stimulator implant on June 18th . So far it isn't working in the right spot's but the doctor say's they can adjust it so it will. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can atleast get rid of 50% thats all I ask for.
I decided to apply for SSD , I don't feel right but I have to get help somewhere with these dang bills ...I guess I have to face my disablity...

Great hunting story, and a great friend you have - thanks for sharing.
As for SSD, you have a right to it, in my opinion.

Thanks Mike he is a great friend . We went bow hunting yesterday and he dragged my doe out of the woods . He's strong as a bull . I had 3 steriod injection's in my lower spine last month and I have been feeling great ! It's been 5 years of pain up till now. Hope these things last for me it allows me to get out and walk some . Good luck this season

Ridge, Thanks for sharing your story and success. It is good to hear about great friendships in the field and in general. I know how you feel about SSD because when I had to file I felt the same way. I still have to battle with myself about feeling worthless. It is very hard at times. I hope that one day I will have the friends like you to take out hunting. Congrats again on your success. May only good things happen to you and your family & friends. Larry

Thanks guys for reading this thread , yes I am lucky to have such a close friend. I'm going to post the picture of me and my bird . Sorry I couldn't get my friend in the pic too. He was behind the camera. Unfortunatly my injections wore off in Jan. and just had more in March but they didn't do me any good this time . Been having lots of problems with this back again.
My buddy is going away over turkey season for more training ( Army) he's a recruiter now and may be heading back to Iraq in a few months .. I sure hope not . Scares me to think he may go back.. I pray everyday for our men and women over there . Their just so young .
