i hope they do make them legal statewide for everyone, it won't effect me either way because i have a lifetime permit, but it sure would be nice if everyone was given the chance to hunt with them also.
they are a very effective weapon and would put an end to alot of the wounded deer that end up running around due to people who are poor shots with a regular bow.
don't get me wrong, i am sure there would still be some who take unethical shots but i feel certain that a number of deer that would get away wounded would decline greatly.

Boy! this is an ongoing fight but I think many states will follow the lead of existing states that have already legalized crossbows for archery season. Virginia is one of those states. Thumbs up to VDGIF in their effort to help jumpstart the stagnant archery license sales which is virtually the same as it was 10 years ago. It has been a quiest and uneventful introduction in Virginia in spite of all the whining from the arrogant, selfish and elitist groups that want to tell all bowhunters what equipment they should be hunting with around the country. I'm old enough to remember this exact same thing that happened in 1971 when "mechanical bows" were introduced. They predicted that bowhunting season would be destroyed by those new contraptions...........we all know the rest of the story, don't we? Think about it, we all, if we live long enough, will get to a point in our lives that we simply can't use vertical compound or stick bows effectively due to arthritis, loss of strength and other age related conditions. The crossbow will allow us all to continue the sport we love................... bowhunting. and what's wrong with younger guys wanting to take up the sport of crossbow shooting and hunting? No one, IMO, has given me a logical reason as to why it would hurt their hunting efforts as a conventional compound or stick bow hunter. Again, IMO, their fear has no logical basis. Good luck to you bowhunters in PA.

People are afraid of change! It was the same when compounds first started showing up. These guys that oppose crossbows generaly want the woods to themselves. They look down their noses at gun hunters and feel they are the ONLY true hunters! What a bunch of BS they try to pedal!!!! They argue about tradition then use a bow with 80% letoff, carbon arrows & releases! I'll listen to a guy with a stick bow but if your shooting a compound........forget about it!!!

Maybe I'm weird becuase I've done it all and enjoyed every minute of it. I hunted with a Bear recurve from 1963 to 1971, went mainly to compounds through 1980, went back to long bows from 1980 to 1988, then divided by hunting time about 50/50 with long bows and compounds. I love bowhunting period. Now that I can't draw even a 45 lb compound due to a bad shoulder and arthritis, I have to stay with the cossbow exclusively. I miss not shooting my traditional and compound equipment but I'm STILL shooting arrows every day!!!!! :-)
