Hit my local haunts this morning. My first stop on a local creek brought me nothing but frustration. I only saw one BIG fall fish rolling and rolling in the current. Just like my dog does after she takes a bath. The only time I've seen this before was out in Montana when the trout had "whirling disease". But I digress... I hit another local and was immediately rewarded with a gift from thee venerable fysshing goddes: Then another, and another... Hmmm. I gotta tie up more of those flies! Then a solid vibration on the line, not a lot of fight but just solid tightness. Hello Mr. Fallfish, glad you stopped by! REAL Flyanglers do use split shot! Only the purist tweedy folk cringe at it. Then I wade through a lot fast current without falling! BONUS! And got out to a gravel bar I've been meaning to fish from. Before I fished I checked out all the cool stuff that was lying around. I wonder how these got here? Planted at some point? Or just drifted and landed here? Oooo! I've been looking for a pair of these but didn't want to spend the $$. A little rusty but it will clean off nicely. They now have a spot in my tackle box All right! SCORE! Something else to put in my tacklebox!! I didn't have one of these lures! What do you make of this? I know in some cases Native Americans used to use drilled out rocks to weight down fishing nets. I'm not sure if it's an artifact or not but I kept it since it was pretty cool! What a fun morning! The treasure hunting sure was fun... and the fishing!
