Just more hunters than fishermen on the boards so far. I used to be an avid fisherman....er....woman, but don't like the combat fishing of the creeks anymore & don't have a boat, so I don't get out much anymore.

To be honest I quit because of the trout stamp program. I supported it blindly, like the bird people are the pheasant stamp, and took one in the rump. They stock less fish and keep giving excuses about it. I don't eat fish, but the kids love fishing so I take them for catch and release. Other than panfish, they get little action. The state stocks all spring until the kids can actually fish in the summer then stop. We have lots of trout streams and only one lake within a 45 minute or more drive so its not worth it to me to pay so much just to catch a few sunnies and throw them back.

tbass,
I never understood whats the sport in a pellethead? Of course after years of fishing for Carp, Pike/Muskie, and Catfish the constant 12" trout gets boring real fast.
Now steelhead I'm all for ;D and don't mind paying extra to fish for them. At least they fight!

For the kids its about fun more than sport. There is one stream that is natives only near me and that's a fun place to take the kids because there are no adults fishing it and they have it to themselves. Nothing %$@#^ me off more than when grown ups hog the holes when there are kids trying to fish. I think that is what Ann was referring to about "combat fishing".
