below is a pic that was sent to me by a friend who said he found this on another website, he told me it said the guy was from Tennessee. this is a great example and reminder as to what can happen if someone doesn't pay attention to what they are doing at all times when using a xbow. PLEASE everyone....with the start of hunting season just about to begin, be careful at all times and pay close attention to what you are doing to insure that i similar situation does not happen to you. i know this a very graphic pic and gave a great deal of thought as to posting it or not, but i figure if anyone out there are the careless type then maybe this can make you think a lil and possibly save injury to yourself. theres no doubt that this will be in the back of my mind for some time to come i also want to wish the best of luck to everyone heading out for the season opener, may you get the trophy of your dreams

here's your sign. this is why tenpoint tells you not to use the stirrup unless you have to. but that has nothing to do with shooting your self in the foot.

its my understanding that he was uncocking his xbow when this happened, why he didn't have sense enough to remove the bolt first is beyond me. but i bet anything he remembers the next time seriuosly though, i am sure not everyone does things in a manner that they should and this is an example of what can really happen. i hate seeing something like this happen to anyone, but i really don't belive in accidents...carelessness happens and getting injured is just the outcome!

That's one of the reasons they to you NOT to manually uncock them! You should carry a bolt with a field point and safely discharge it into the ground or old stump? Most crossbows now are built with a internal safety that is suppose to prevent accidentle dry firing when a bolt is not seated? Just goes to show you can never be two carefull!
