zodiakgsps, I watched him dog a doe on the 4th of November. I was working and had a huge project due and couldn't waste any time that day (or at least more than I did while videoing him.) Funny thing is, I was on the phone with a customer and saw the antlers, grabbed the camera and started filming, but was not really paying attention. After I got off the phone I realized how big he was. I went out the back door and saw him heading away to another woodlot that was posted and figured he was gone. Later that evening I saw my neighbor belly crawling across the field. Turns out he was driving home and saw him bedded back behind my house. Obviously he circled around after I saw him leave. He later missed him at 30 yards. Shot right under him.
We hunted every day the rest of the season. My neighbor managed a nice 8 point (his first bow kill and his 8 year old son was on the ground with him for the whole thing.) Never saw him again. I spent every possible moment that spring and searched every spot I had access to and never found any sign of him. Funny thing is, I never found a rub that appeared it would have come from him. I think he was cruising and picked up that doe.
I never heard of anyone else getting him, but it's now been 2 full seasons later and haven't seen him again. Although, there are a few bucks I see that have potential and are definite offspring of his. The last buck in my 05 pictures definitely is his.
