I was wondering how long i should let my game camera out in the field, this is the first time i put it out and it is running on 4 "c" cell batteries.

It depends on many factors. The temperature outside, the amount of photos that require the flash to go off, the amount of photos taken. If its on a trail where you expect a few photos a day, you should be good for at least 2 weeks minimum. For bait or food plots, I would check it weekly just to be sure. The above are extreme low estimates, but even a crappy cam should get to those check points. From there you can expand the duration as you learn the camera. Some camera's hog up the power, and some are much more conservative.
