I've been waiting for the field pics to post this, but I haven't gotten them yet soo...Last Saturday night the wife and I ventured out in the heat after a 10 I've been seeing for a while now. I had just hung the stand on Monday and was getting lots of pictures around it, all when I was in a different stand of course. Just before 7 this guy showed up and she didn't hesitate in taking him. The shot was close, around 12 yards, but she pulled a little left hitting the liver. When she shot I couldn't see anything but his feet so I didn't know where the hit was and the deer never acted hit at all as he just walked off. When I asked her if she hit him, she wasn't sure either and said I guess not since he didn't run. He stepped into a slight opening and I was able to get the binos on him and I thought I saw a spot on him where the arrow hit, but I wasn't 100% sure. I tried grunting him back but he just kept walking. After about 5 minutes he let out the loudest grunt/roar I've ever heard, so loud my brother heard it over 300 yards away, followed by crashing. Not knowing if he was thrashing brush or busting out of there we waited til we couldn't see to climb down. We looked for the arrow and found it covered in blood and a little gut. We backed out and went back 3 hours later and found him dead 60 yards away, right where I heard the roar coming from. I've never heard of a deer doing a death moan before, but thats what it seems to have been.

Congadulations for you and your wide.
I've heard deer make some weird sounds when they die.I killed a buck in Ohio a few years ago that grunted several times as he was on the ground kicking around.Only ever had that happen that one time.
