just picked up a savage model 11 in .204 ruger for coyote hunting. topped it off with a 4-16 x 40 scope and a 230 lumen light. now i just need to sight it in and get it into the woods. going to try to get to the range on friday. anyone have any thoughts as to what would be a better zero point 100 or 200 yards. being in pa i dint foresee too many shots past that. ill be hunting mostly in venango county but may try some other areas if anyone want to show a newbie some of the tricks of the trade.

Congrats on a nice gun! I have a CZ 527 204 and love it. I shot mine in at 150 and seems good at all ranges here in pa. I am shooting the hornady v-max and I forget what the balistics are with out looking but it is a very flat shooting gun. Good luck

I finally got the .204 out to the range and sighted in. things have been crazy all summer so this was the first chance i had to shoot it. all i can say is wow this is one hell of a good shooting rifle. my last six rounds were all touching and i could cover the holes with a quarter. i was shooting the 34 grain winchester factory loads at 100 yards (all the longer the range in wexford is). im going to have to either start buying bulk ammo or find someone that can reload for me( for a reasonable fee ).

took the .204 out to the range again. a friend wanted to shoot his new pistol (his first firearm) he was smart enough to ask for help learning the ins and outs of his new .45. after several mag. he finallt asked me what was in the gun case so i told him we would go shoot it. after i shot my first three round group it was his turn. his first shot missed the dead center of the bull by about 1/16 of an inch. not bad for his first time shooting a rifle. he was so proud i just couldnt tell him it was more the rifle than him.
