Loggy, I just flat out enjoy carrying my .54 cal. longrifle, no matter what the season. I understand it and it understands me. We manage to coordinate our efforts having it function properly darn near every time, and if it doesn't fire successfully, it usually turns out to be my fault. I then fully apologize to it, clear the touchhole, add fresh priming, wipe off the flint and frizzen, and smile when it touches off instantly giving me a little shoulder thump in appreciation. It saddens me to think that there are those out there who have never encountered the personal enjoyment of knowing, and smelling, a flintlock!

:)Amen BCF! I think as those read all of our xperiences of flintin..it will bring many more into the fold. If it wernt were PA Flintlockin drawin me into this wonderful sport...i likely would still be a centerfire guy or most likely even have burned out by now! ;D

the nice part about the early season is that we have a choice , for me sometimes i carry my scope sighted encore, and other times my t/c renegade flinter and even my excal crossbow at times,no matter the weapon its a great time to be in the pa deer woods.

rs, I like the idea of a crossbow during the early muzzleloader season. I don't have one...YET, but that may change in the near future. Until then, I'll stick with my flinter. Too darn old to figure out an inline.
