Loggy,,,just got back from Loshboughs with the inline gang. There's some big hogs running around Daniels place. Had to work hard for 'em this year. They wanted to run. I'm getting this one mounted at the same place that did yours.
I used a .451 Super 91 I acquired last fall from RD using a Bullshop 488gr. bullet. Ed guilted me into trying a squirrel rifle... ;D
The hogs were moving Saturday morning, but they were moving very fast. Like "running". They were skiddish as all get out. If they winded you,,,they were gone. We saw 2 before noon,,and there was no way you could get a shot. Daniel let the dogs loose to stir things up a little Saturday afternoon as the temps got warm.. The pigs just refused to bay. I bet we covered a good 15 miles or so all total Saturday. Spent about 11 hours in the woods.
Finally the dogs had located a good group of pigs, but they scattered. I climbed a hill where I had seen some run. About the time I crested the ridge,,there were a couple that had took off. Bob Bowers hollered for me to go to the top as he spotted a big sow that had broken off from the rest.
No sooner had I climbed what seemed like "Pikes Peak" ,,,there he stood about 35-40 yards away facing me. I froze, waiting for him to turn. He finally gave me a good broadside shot as he was considering a run. Shortly after I shot,,Bob nailed a huge sow.
Last year's hunt seemed like a "cakewalk" compared to this year.
Trust me,,conditions change and you'll most likely "earn" your hog. Daniel will do everything in hiis power to make sure your hunt is one of the best experiences you'll have hog hunting...
Have fun guys! I can guarantee you a great time...
I just thought I'd wet you guys appetites a little..
