I hunt game lands, and up through the valley i hunt, tree removal contractors have been cutting mostly small trees and limbs to prevent them from blowing down on power lines that go up through the valley, and since i have a wood stove in my shop, I decided to call the game comm. because i know they have laws on gathering from the game lands. So I call them, and ask if i can pick up the small pcs. of wood laying along the road, they say no. Rather than have someone use it, they said they would rather let it lay and rot..Doesn't make any sense to me.

They might gather all those clippings and make rabbit habitat out of it who knows why they do half the things they do.

Yep,it creates habitat, keeps seedlings from being browsed and provides browse for the deer.Leaving the tops lay is good habitat management.
