when setting up your bow do you use anything to measure center shot before you head out to the range.

When I set up bows with rest's I use a simple home made center shot gage that works perfectly. Yes I'm a cheapo.. ...just ask my wife.. All you need is 2 Allen wrenches that fit the limb bolts, 2 rubber bands, short piece of fishing line and a short length of arrow shaft with a nock on it. With the bow standing upright ( I prefer to lock it into a bow holder or a padded vise so both hands are free) insert both Allen wrenches into each of the limb bolts. Slip a rubber band over each Allen wrench. Take the fishing line and tie it off between the 2 rubber bands tightly so that the rubber bands are stretched tight and the fishing line is stretched tight. Since both limb bolts are on center provided you have the rubber bands and fishing line tight the fishing line should now be marking the exact center line of the riser. Take the arrow shaft and cut it off at an appropriate length so that when it is nocked on the bow string the cut off end is just short of the fishing line. Now nock the arrow on the bow string, set it on your arrow rest and by eying up the alignment of the fishing line with the cut off end of the arrow you should be able to move your rest in and out and set to exact center shot. Pretty simple. Hope this helps.
