My son went shopping today and brought this home. I was wondering if it is legal to use? It says on the bottle it is a deer attractent, has no food in it,it is a gel that has chemicals in it to make it smell like corn(and boy does it!!). I never tried anything like this, but he wanted to give it a try. It smells like a real strong can of cream corn!! He had put it in some Tink scent bombs by the time I got home. Thanks

Taking Advantage of Food or Bait: It is unlawful to hunt in or around any area where artificial or natural bait, food, hay, grain, fruit, nuts, salt, chemicals or minerals, including their residues, are used, or have been used within the past 30 days, as an enticement to lure game or wildlife regardless of the type or quantity. Hunters are responsible for ensuring that the hunting area has not been baited before they begin hunting. They should physically inspect the area and question landowners, guides and caretakers.
The way I read this that stuff aint legal, they keyword being artificial

This is an extremely "GREY" area open to interpretation by individual WCO's when it comes down to it. As an almost 20 veteran of instructing the HTE classes for the PGC I can't tell you how many times this question or one similar has been asked during class to the attending WCO and over these years each one has responded differently.
Not long ago here in Bradford County we had a local WCO who clearly stated that as far as he was concerned food plots were baiting and illegal. His perspective was that they are not planted for cash crop and harvest and are planted and located solely for the source of attracting wildlife to a certain location to better hunt them.
I don't know if this would stand up in court but he certainly made no bones about the fact that he felt it was baiting.
You may want to call the local regional office of the PGC and run it by them but don't be surprised if you need a Lawyer to understand the interpretation of the law that they give you,...it's very foggy and anything but cut and dry/black and white.

Skwirl, Your are right,it is not legal. It is considered a chemical bait,I called Franklin. Oh well,he is only out $5.00,and saved from alot of grief latter. Better safe than sorry!!! I think it is a shame that they sell so much stuff in the stores(with the hunting equipment)that is not legal to use!!! I allways told people check before you buy any type of deer lure. Next time he will know.had to throw the whole bottle in the garbage.
