read an interesting article the other day where the writer was using a standard arrow rest but was afraid of that noise that the arrow makes when drawing back. he found you can eliminate this noise by aplying a thin coat of chapstick or vasaline to the arrow rest

Yup, does work and do the job but doesn't last long. Vaseline is nothing more than a very thin grease essentially that is safe for human consumption. Years ago I know of people that also used soap or candle wax for the same purpose but again all need frequent re-applications.

I've done that myself. It is a short fix so I just use a piece of felt. Hope I spelled that right:-) I also use the Zero Effect Arrow Rest and have no contact with the arrow. That's the easiest way to eliminate the problem a drop away rest.

As a machinist, I fabed a bracket to put a Flipper rest on my overdraw,Very, Very quiet, and forgiving, I can shoot Feathers(1ST choice) or veins(rainy days), with no differance in flight. As for the Recurve, OFF THE SHELF with bear hair is the only way(instintve shooting).
