RS, I guess it depends on how much time you have to setup. I like the shooting sticks as I find them more sturdy, but depending on how the game is approaching you may not have the time to adjust the legs in time.
What I found out works just as well is basically a broom stick with a Large nail in the bottom of one end. I predrill the hole so the stick doesn't split and then take a file and smooth out the head of the nail. Then when I get setup, I just stick the pole in the ground. Then depending on where the game is approaching, I just move my hand up and down the broom stick, wrap a couple of finger around the stick and the others to hold the rifle steady. I find it works just as well and is sure is a lot cheaper. Plus you can stain or paint the stick any color you want.

For me it's just one more thing to lug into the woods. I guess if you're hunting in a field a bipod would be nice, but a tree in the woods and my knee in the field have always worked for me!

i just bought a monopod for my camera and it came with an attachment to use it as a shooting stick. It's adjustable down to about 18" which would be good if your sitting on the ground with your back to a tree. And it extends up to just about 6'. i think it will be good for those days when your out turkey hunting alone. You would be able to have your shotgun up and ready and allow for minimal movement.
