buck...i thought that encore you had was a 500 yard ML?? ;D
Kiddin aside, over at modern ML a guy or 2 had them. I just remember there was much debate that they did what advertised...being diminishing returns when going over 150 grains.

It can be done with a flintlock and PRB so I doubt that it couldn't be done with an in-line. There are alot of exotic custom in-lines that can do more than the standard run of the mill in-line, but the price is more than the average working man with a family and morgage can afford.

Loggy, 150 grains isn't the problem. It would do better with less than 100. It requires a 400 to 600 grain bullet. Then little short in line bullet things at Wally world and Gander Molehill won't carry that far accurately.
Some of you ought to wander up to Blue Mountain Muzzle loaders in Shartelsville and watch the bench rest guys shoot. 300 yd cloverleafs. And by the way, they don't use in-lines.

Got to hold yesterday what was labeled an original blue mountain bench rest gun. That thing would have been better suited for a swivel gun or opened up as a punt gun.

It is one of them things that is on "The List" Mrs. was willing to do the trip to visit grandma, who lived 45 miles further in Ind. But the sweet old woman, decided two years ago to move on. She went out into the garden on a fine summer day and laid down facing heaven. They found her that evening, on her back, with her arms up and hands folded behind her head like she was just waching the clouds roll by.

Hold? heft? or Support? Some of them go 60 to 70 lbs. I tried to hold it steady at shoulder. Key word tried. Barrel was thicker around than an aluminum can. Lived here almost three years and still haven't crossed the highway to watch them shoot.

When I did alot of competeing years back, there was a guy named Woody from Virginia that would shoot excellent offhand scores with a 38 cal rifle. It was a traditional sidelock rifle, but had only a 22 inch stubby barrel that was at least 1.25 inches across the flats. Short and heavy, but he could sure shoot it.
