Loggy....they will do fine in preferably... (big pots) or better yet 5 gallon buckets if you have them.
when we first moved where we are i grew tomatoes, peppers- both reg & hot - cucumbers & squash all in pots and they did fine.
what i did was mix equal parts of miracle grow potting soil with regular dirt, i also watered them daily with one of those times including miracle grow hose kit.
be sure that pots have holes in the bottom for drainage, what i did each time was water until it came out the bottom and then stopped.
then last year they decided to till up an area near the playground for everyone to plant gardens, our landlord told me that my jungle of potted plants i had here on the porch and along the wall in the yard was the determining factor in them making a garden area for us ;D

I've done them in 5 gallon buckets, just make sure you feed & water well and you should have no problems. Actually had less trouble with maters....no slugs!!

Loggy, get some liquid kelp fertilizer, mix one TBSP kelp with 1 TSP Epsom Salts to a gallon of water and try that on your peppers(good for all veggies). Make sure you haven't fertilized (miracle grow)them within a week though, to much can harm them. If they're stunted with dark spots on the leaves, you may need to spray with copper, available at garden centers. Also check the undersides of the leaves for aphids.....buggers have been bad this year!! You can spray with insecticidal soap to control them, much less toxic than sevin dust or like insecticides.
