just wondering how everyone grows there cucumbers?
i plant mine along fences and if none is available (such as my case this year) i made a trellis for them to climb on.
they actually grow just as well for me either way and when not on the ground i like it much better because it doesn't give the snakes a place to hide.
there is just nothing like reaching down to pick a cucumber and see a big ole' snake laying beside it

Grow 'em on the ground......ain't afraid of no snakes!! Did have a problem with slugs last year though, rather pick up a snake than one of them! YUK! When you trellis them, do you have to support the cukes as you do with trellised melons?

just let them hang, they were fine like that because the plants really wraps itself all over the fence.
only problem i ran into was once in awhile they would grow through the hole in the fence, would have to break the cucumber to get it out...lol
