Just let them come on out. Actually, all they got to do is stick their head up out of their hole. They're everywhere !!! In the fields, along fence rows, and around out buildings. Right now the grass is getting to the point where you can't see them unless they stand up. So I try to get to the fields early then I move to peoples yards that keep the gass mowed. I keep a camp chair on my quad and pack everything I need to spend some time in the area. I love to spend time in the field. The two things that get me onto peoples property is the destructiveness of groundhogs and if a farmer has to put down an animal because it broke a leg from stepping into one of their holes. Oh yea, there is one other thing----- when the farmer tries to tend his fields and darn near gets bounced out of the seat of his tractor !!!!!!!!!!

If memory serves me ( and I'd check the book ) it's closed during rifle deer season. If you find a working farm that has a problem with rodents and you prove to the owner your respect for his property, you should be welcomed with open arms. The key word is RESPECT !!!!!!! If you find a fence down, fix it or report it to him. I think you get the message here.

Hunting hogs is fun. I use a 17 cal. marlin with a 3-12 x40 sweet 17 scope. it reaches out to touch them at about 200 yards. You have to shoot them in the head though. I never hard anyone call them, but my wife calls me whenshe sees one. So far this year we got 20 on our farm.

I'm over 80 but I've lost count. With this weather, looks like I'll be still shooting them till rifle season. Although, I'm ready to switch gears and crank it up for coyotes !!!!!!!! ;D
