After Tball practice I went out for Hogs! My best freind and I made it a fun event......He took the binoculars and was my spotter....I was the sniper----Ok---it made it fun anyway! Got 2 off the farm. The first was my longest shot ever taken at any animal... about 170 yards. Cut him right in two. The second topped the first....we walked off the distance almost 250 yards. Man what a difference shooting with a scope makes. The second I shot and thought I missed with the first shot...took a second--both were hits! 223 solids----Im thinking of switching to hollow points.

Good shooting there Dickert,if you handload you might want to try the hornady V-max they shoot really well out of my 223 and are deadly on chucks.

I did not like the solids....they were dead on but pass though with a big hole...I want something that will expand and drop them in their tracks. The first chuck was blown almost completly in half but still ran 50 yards with everything hanging "out".....I wish I had a pic but it looked like most "gory" posts. The intestines were not damaged but simply completely 'Out'.

Ive counted nearly 20 holes now....most empty but quite a few active. They have done alot of damage this year to the field. One hole my leg went hip deep and didnt hit bottom....that was straight down. One dirt pile is 2 feet tall by 8 feet square. In the fall we thought it might be deer at first causing the crop damage---found out as time went on the chuck were making the LARGE crop circle formations in the soybeans. I was asked to thin them out---Completely! Who am I to say no! LOL

Thought about it but not at those ranges. The field is too wide open and no way to get close enough to those in the middle. Now around the field edges and in the woods I do take the 54 cal guns.

I got three or four fields like that. The only problem is if I don't get busy now, the grass gets too high then everything stops till they mow the hay. Although, I have some people that want me to get rid of some warm, fuzzy, furry creatures in their yards. It's amazeing how destructive groundhogs can be !!!!!!!!!!
