Morning Guys & Girls: Need some advise: The Coys around hear are getting out of hand. Was out to the barn at 9 last night and there was one heading for the cattle, chased it away but did not have time to get a gun as the Laws up hear in Ont. are so ridicules . Does any one have any ideas on how to keep them away from the barns? Yes I'm going to set up with a gun in the evening and wait for them but can,t be there all the time. There is one gang of hunters around that use dogs but they are a bunch of yahoos and are not welcome by most farmers around here.It seems to be a drinking party rather than a hunt!! Any help would be welcome. Thanks Mooseer

I would suggest investing in a big dog to protect your cattle. The only other option is to trap them or try wolf urine.

Mooseer - where are you located. I'll gladly come out and wack a few yotes for you. I don't use a dog, but I hunt them by calling or setting up an ambush in a known yote hangout.
let me know and if your close by Indiana, I'll come over some evening and get rid of a few.

A 22/250 and a 50 grain V-max traveling at about 3700 fps sound keep them away from the barn..let all the smells escape the barn and just sit there and shoot...dead ones don't come back.....sometimes it's the only solution.. someone will come and help you I'm sure...

Well took some advise last night and set up some bait, couldn't, believe it but 2 came out just before dark. It was a long shot with the 222 but I know of 2 coyotes that will not be back!!! Will be back out there tonight, this could get addictive. Whitetail101 Im a long way from you, about 1 1/2 hours north east of Toronto Ont. Canada Thanks Mosseer

Make you self a nice little nest high in the barn and do some calling! Like the ol saying goes when the rabbit starts a squeling the fox comes a runnin! (but not to help)
