I have a mid-70's TC muzzleloader. What can I shoot? I've used a roundball and patch with 90 gr. 2f with 4f in the pan. I don't know what the barrel twist is. Can I use sabots, can I use pyrodex pellets, what is the best set up?

if it's a flintlock stay away from pellets and go with real black powder....if it's a round ball barrel they make it's a 1/66" twist and PRB will shoot the best outta it....if it's a 1/48" it will shoot conical, sabots, powerbelts and PRB good...................bob

Put a real tight patch on the rammer and a pencil mark near the other end. As you push the ram rod in, the rod will turn with the rifling. Kepp track of how much it turns with the distance it travels into the barrel. If it makes a 1/4 turn while going in 12 inches, it is a 1:48 if it turns a 1/4 turn in 16.5 inches it is a 1:66 Got it?
