Never owned a traditions but have read both good & bad reports of those who have. Traditions is about the only mfgr where bad experiences seem to pop up nmore then TC, Lyman etc.
If gun was properly cared for & operational and your looking to enter sport without spending much...it likely will meet your needs.
I would lean more towards a TC or Lyman if you think your gonna stay with flintin & am one that doesnt like trading up in a coupla years.
What price is the Traditions?

hey spike...i didn't want to say it earlier but the quality on that traditions gun is rather lacking. the same guy offered me that deal before he did you, i opted for a TC flinter because they are nicer guns and stand behind there products

Two things, the traditionas has double set triggers. The Tc doesn't. TC frizzens have been the sore point of TC guns for thrity years.
CVA's Mountain Rifle was a really good gun. That traditions rifle looks very similar to the mountain rifle. (Shape of patchbox, lock and trigger guard.) Traditions and CVA had many of their guns made in the same factory and parts were often interchangeable. he CVA Mountain rifle had a german silver pact box that looked the same, and the triggerguard was browned steel, but the shapes look the same.)

I know there's a lot of folks out there that like Traditions guns but I could never recommend one of their flintlocks. I have yet to see one that was trustworthy and reliable where the lock is concerned. The biggest issue is the frizzen to pan fit or lack of I should say. I've seen some with a gap so large I could stick a vent pick through it. The prime will fall right out. Honestly my experiences with T/C aren't a whole lot better. As formentioned the problem with them is the frizzen hardness and a lack of spark. Frizzen to pan fit can be iffy too. Look at it this way. If there weren't issues with the lock then there wouldn't be aftermarket lock made to replace them and their shortcomings. For a beginner the T/C is the better choice. You could also look at Lyman and their Great Plains rifle.
