What do you guys think of the winchester decision to stop manufacturing the model 70 bolt action , model 94. 9422 lever action and the 1300 pump shotgun and 9410 lever shotgun? I own three and they are some of the most reliable guns out there! let's Look at the model 94 lever action 30-30 one of the most popular guns in history! They stopped manufacture a year ago and im still in shock!

Winchester Has produced Quality firearms for a very long time...They fell victem to our Global Economy..Most firearms manufactures have moved overseas years ago due to high Taxes and High labor costs..Their are few American Gun Manufactures in business today..Winchester was one of the best..

Yes it is! It is hard to believe that a company like that would discontinue above anything else the firearms that helped win the west and have played such and important part of american history not to mention how many sportsman have grown up with these firearms passed down from generations before them? I'd like to see them come back!

It's a damn shame that not only firearms companies, but all other aspects of manufacturing are falling victim to cheap labor costs ini other countries. I reckon this is fodder for another dicussion in another forum.

I think that Winchester started to rest on the name, and decided that their product, and the "Gun that Won the West" mentality, was worth a lot more price wise than a comparable Remington, which is also made in the USA, by Union members. The Mod 94 was a teriffic gun. IMO, Winchester's downfall began in 1964. The M70 was a fantastic gun, and they ruined it. Ther is really no excuse that with the money and fanfare Winchester has that it came down to this. I can't really think of one new product that they introduced in the past 10 years. They seemed to get real good at introducing a "commemorative" M94. I also believe that they missed the boat. They could have made a fortune by reintroducing the Model 1873. With the rise in Cowboy Action Shooting, they could have made a fortune. But the fact still remains that they chose to remain stagnant and not develop new products.

Buyers bought the "gun that won the west" and the "rifleman's rifle" for quite a while, but eventually their gosh allful QC caught up to them. My first real quality centerfire was a pre-war 70. It ran like a Swiss watch. Lately, their rifles have been overweight, overpriced and rough as a cob.

winchester fail to keep up to date on new tech in guns but keep up and even ahead with ammo. must have thought that was enough.
