i used to shoot aluminum bolts and at times it was rather tuff getting them out of my target, i have a rubber arrow puller that was made by 'Allen Archery' that made pulling the toughest arrow/bolt an easy task'
this year i will be using carbon bolts and i am very anxious to see if they pull out as easy as some have told me they do.
has anyone used both before and whats your opinion?

I have shot both and they both pull hard if you are shooting into a foam target. there are several products on the market to apply to the shaft that will make them easier to pull out of your target.

Initial question...in my experience...not that you can tell. Alum. C.F. ...about the same.
This works with aliminum or carbon fiber arrows....
No need to buy anything but the rubber grip you already have.
Just give the arrow about a quarter twist...it will be obvious when it breaks free. Then pull out, VERY easily after the the twist motion. The heat developed as the arrow enters the foam heats things up enough to "lightly" seal the arrow to the foam.
Or...you can spend the bucks and wipe your arrows continiously with some kinda wonder wiz, and get it all over everything.
I just give'm a slight twist and pull. Works every time.

I also shoot both...and found that the Carbons are much harder to pull out...because of the Dia and the heat they build up going into my Block Target...Thunderbolt125

If you give'em a twist before attempting to pull...it's a three finger pull!
Foam targets get hot and melt slightly with the friction of the arrow entering the block. To break that "seal"...give the arrow/bolt a simple twist...then pull.

About the same. I find that furniture wax or even bar soap applied to the bolt when they are new makes them much easier to pull

I don't shoot carbons anymore due to the pullout problem, especially using crossbows in the 350 to 400 fps range. 2219 Eastons and Rinehart targets are a great combination.

Just this afternoon I applied Turtle Wax, the kind used on cars, to my carbon bolts. Can't believe what a difference it made. Bolts came out with minimal effort. No effect on accuracy.

Yea..but....what's that wax doing to the carbon fiber? Carbon fiber arrows (most C.F.) aren't fully and completely sealed after the autoclave. What does some of this stuff do to c.f. when it sinks in?
I'll stick to the twist method. C.F. is designed to be twisted without any harm.

Carbons are faster and they build more heat up....so thats why their harder to pull out...i shoot both...alum and carbons...i'm 47 years old....i just do it.....even if you wax or dust them....their still be hard to get out...try useing a Block thats the best and easiest that i've tried.....Thunderbolt125

I gotta tell ya. I have lost a few inserts on the broadhead side and the nock side with the glue giving way when pulling out my carbon arrows out of a block. I am going to have to try the 1/4 turn methid and see what is up. Also, I have heard the Morrel target is best for crossbow bolts. Jack.

Mike, I TRIED the twist method today with no luck. I'm shooting a carbon arrow @ about 320 fps. I then shot the same arrow into a Morrell Super Super bag! Two finger pull out. I don't like the idea of spraying or waxing my arrows. Just my opinion!!
