Went out yesterday morning. I saw the biggest spike I have ever seen. He had spikes thet looked close to 14''. Also it was a huge deer. He must have been pushng 200 lbs. I had him at about 12 yds. Of course I let him go.

Good for you....maybe next year he'll be a Big Boy....way to holdoff....some guys would have dropped him in his tracks....i'm not a trophy hunter but i do hold off on the young deer and the does during the Season..Thunderbolt125

Spike bucks will grow huge racks later in life. Research indicates that a young buck that has spikes for his first set of antlers,either it had a late start due to his birthdate, or the lack of nutritious forage. They can produce a decent set of antlers in just one season following. Good for you to let him pass buckman.

Heading out tomorrow ( 12/08/07 ) with my Excal. hoping big bucky will pay me another visit. Word is the second rut is on ( Dec. 8,9,10 ) in Ontario.
