Anyone tried the new lever-evolution shells...the pointed bullet will permit alot better down range ballistics for sure.. they are coming in a wide variety of old favorites, 30/30, .444, 45/70 and the newer .450...anyone shot them off the bench yet..I haven't seen anyone trying them yet and was just wondering how they were performing.... It seems that when I was cutting my hunting teeth back in the 60's and early 70' alot of lever actions were being used..I had a 760 pump but remember a ton of guys shooting the model 99 savages in various calibers and the old standbys the winchester model 94's and if you really wanted to see top of the line the model 88 winchesters, wished I'dda bought about 10 of them....I spent alot of time on the shooting ranges at about 5 different clubs and rarely ever see a lever gun... sortta miss seeing model 99 savages, darn things were very accurate for a lever especially in .308.....wonder why they've gone by the wayside..could it be because of down range ballistics and poor bullet offerings... ?

My first deer rifle was the pump .30-.30 Savage introduced in the 70's. I don't remember the model no., but it was an accurate little gun. My son and I got our first bucks with that rifle. It, unfortunately had a weak extractor set-up, and was reduced to a single shot after a few years.

I have used some of the leverevolutions in 30/30. Not the best groups at 100 yards, about 2 inches from my Marlin. Missed the only shot I got last year at a running buck in thick stuff.
