I have the same outfit as skwirl and it is 10+ years old and still going strong.
Bought my son the same exact set up and he is much rougher on equipment than I am and they hold up well.

I've got 5. Prefer the 5 or 6 ft models. More sensitive and like everyone says, they hold up well.

I've got one ultralite spinner, one 7'medium bait caster and one 6' medium weight bait caster. I like all of 'em. Many years ago I was fishing the fall salmon run at Oswego NY and a guy next to me had a big fish on. His hands kept moving up the rod for leverage. Finally when he had one hand on the handle and the other about two feet up the rod, it snapped and it sounded like a 22 going off. He looked at me and said, "What is this that has happened? This is Ugly Stick!"

I have had an Ugly Stik for about 15 years. Good rods for being fiberglass. Just went shopping for a new one, and found they are now made in the Communist Peoples Republic of China. I now am a big believer in St. Croix. Graphite is better.

i've got 2 and one i've had since i was 12, i'm 45 now....both are 7" med action and have mitchell 308 spinning reels on them, yup one of them are from when i was 12 too and the other rig is the newer rod and reel....never had anything else....if it ain't broke i don't fix it....all i've ever used was 8# line the whole time also....i even use it as a fly rod fer blue gills by yanking out bout 15 fet or so of line and whipping it like a fly rod to cast it out fer them blue gills....i don't think i would know how to use anything else..................bob

as a matter of fact when i bought my first one i went into hermans sporting goods looked at the 7" rod and took the tip in one hand and the butt end in the other hand and bent them around to touch each other just like the tv commercal "remember that" ....the look on the store clerks face was priceless, looked back at him and said i'll take this one....that's the same one i still have........................bob
