I was just looking through a fishing catalog, with no exaggeration there were 7 pages of just hooks. that didn't include the 4 pages for fly hooks. Do you have a favorite manufacturer, color, snelled? ? Are circle hooks better than sproat hooks? ? sure are a lot of choices

skwirl, The reason I checked out your thread was because I was doing the same thing with the Cabela's 2007 Fishing catalog, checking out the hooks. It certainly has gone way beyond good ole Eagle Claw bait holder hooks! And, getrdone, those hooks you have there on the right, Cabela's wants $1.00 a piece! My gosh, now fishing has passed me by! And circle hooks. Is that shape for catching fish or fishermen? And to think, I started out back in the late 40's on Cheat River in WV, with a long, whippy stick with some black 400lb. test braided line, a hook, and some garden worms trying to catch a mess of horny head chubs. Times, they are a changin'!

I got "hooked" with Terminal Tackle a number of years ago. ;D Anyone looking for a great place to buy hooks, good prices w/excellent service...be sure to check out Terminal Tackle Company. I've been buying from them for years. They have custom snelled hooks that are impossible to find anywhere. I buy a lot of their 18" & 30" snelled Wide Gap & Mustad Beak styles plus Gamakatsu Octopus & many others. They also have a fine selection of loose hooks available in bulk for those who snell their own. Lures, line leader matl etc. is also available. Shipping rates very reasonable. One of the best selection of hooks that ive ever seen! Plus they carry things that fisherman want. Terminal Tackle Companies Web: www.terminaltackleco.com/

Since I fish mainly in the brine for flounder, I use a 2/0 or 3/0 Eagle Claw SaltWater Circle hook. I snell my own with 30 lb flourocarbon leader material.
