Fast Action With this type of action, the rod flexes in the upper quarter section of the blank, which lets you throw tighter loops for less wind resistance and more distance. A fast-action rod makes it easier to cast wind- resistant flies and sink-tip lines.
Moderate/Fast Action Because this type of blank flexes in the upper third of the rod, it combines the desirable features of both the fast and moderate-action rods. It throws tight loops and is easy to work when casting shorter distances.
Moderate Action Flexing to the middle section, moderate-action rods offer a softer action. Great for line tippets because the flex protects them from breaking.
