Anyone got a different knot then the "nail knot" to tie the tapered leader to the fly line. I'm starting to get short on the tapered leader and may need to put a new one on and I hate that nail knot. It takes me many attempts to get it and then it's not all that good. I have been adding tippet to the leader with the surgeons knot, but the 6X tippet is way smaller in diameter than the leader and the strike indicators I use tend to work their way down the tippet.

Man, that killroys is damn good site! I just read this thread and went to the site... I was going to recommend another site for knots. But after looking at Killroys... your better off there.

Never tie an improved clinch again! It's Smaller, Faster to tie, Stronger, and Great for fluorocarbon. It's known as the Pitzen or Sixteen-Twenty knot. It's too good not to share! I haven't tied an improved clinch in months and I simply love this knot. 206.210.94.83/assets/recommended_knots/pdf/fhf_knot_sixteen
