I build rifle on bolt action mostly because of Mauser, and Springfield's I can't pay the price for a commercial action and I really don't see where they are that much better for the money.(But that is my way of thinking.. But I have to say I hunted most of my life witha *Pump action* first rifle I bought was an old Remington 35 pump still have it today and from there to a 760 in a 270 and that has been my *Baby* put me down a lot of deer... Just like having that second shot without bringing the rifle down from the shoulder. MM

Good Question would make for an interesting survey here. My go to rifle is my cheap Savage 110EL in 06 with a 20" barrel.

I had a 35rem lever and a Rem 270 pump but most of my hunting rifles were/are bolt-actions.My rifle of choice nowadays is a Browning A Bolt 7-08

My favorite is my Rem Mod 700 in .300 Win mag. Used to have a pump 30/06 but went back to my maggie due to the feel and the way it shoots.

I'd say that the ole' pump still has it's strong following....I'd say with the 45 and up crowd that's it's still the king of the woods..the younger fellows are using bolts and single shots..those ole pumps are almost perfect for deer hunting...lots of firepower in a hurry, quick to aim, I can remember back in the 60's and 70's when you knew when someone had a pump without question, some volley's took place..you knew when one was on the run for sure....I had one for about the first 15 years of my hunting days..killed a buck every year for the first 10 with it..an ole 06'..my son killed his first buck with it also..got rid of it after that...and if anyone thinks they are not accurate...your dreaming, I've seen some of them that could shoot under an inch all day long in various calibers... the last ten or so rifles I've bought were all bolts....times change for sure....don't see many lever guns in my hunting circles these days..
