In your opinion what fly most represents the little brown pellets the stocked trout are fed in the hatchery? I've heard of people clipping wings and hackle off of deer hair flies to represent the pellets....ever do this? Just wondering, as it may be a good idea on opening day. Wonder if you could get brown glo bug egg patterns?

The best pellet fly pattern is to use white glo-bug yarn and make an egg fly. Then take a brown sharpie marker and color it. The stocked fish go NUTS! Especially if you throw a handful of fine gravel just before you cast the fly. They think it's feeding time in the race-ways.
