Nothing in the Fish Commission info. My bet is that it is actually a Tiger trout that has taken on a local nickname. Either that or Skwirl had one too many brown bottles last night!.

ive heard that md.stocks some cutthroat trout in some of the western md. streams anyone else heard this ? but im not sure but i think the rainbows we catch in pa are a kamloops trout strain .as i write this i keep thinking that some of the rainbows i caught this year had a more salmon kinda look ,because i remember commenting on how strange they looked in color and shape when my son gets home ill look see what pictures we took and try to post one

There ARE lake/rainbow hybrids that appear to be as archer393 describes, but therre's nothing on the fish comm site that says they are stocking them. As for the kamloops, I can find nothing at all about them in anything pertaining to Pa. I stilll think it's a local nickname or too many people getting into the sacramental wine.

OK, I just Googled up Kamloops trout. They do , but don't exist. They are a geographical variation of the traditional rainbow trout that, according to the article, will not occur here unless stocked, then only for that generation. Any successive generation will display normal rainbow traits and physical characteristics. They were discovered in Canada in a lake at Fort Kamloops, and that's how they got their name. The fish Commission site does NOT indicate any stockings of this rare variation of the rainbow. SO::: technically Skwirl hasn't been into the wine like I thought, but anyone who says they're in PA has been. Most likely someone heard of them and misnamed what they caught. Probably a Tiger instead of a Kamloops. What next? A whoop-ti-doo trout?? Skwirl, just to stiffle you before you ask:: There are NO known breeding pairs of Saskwatch here in Pa. ;D
