Just keep in mind....even chest waders don't help if you're not careful walking on slippery shale bottoms...... Don't ask me how I know...... ;D

I have a pr of Cabelas neoprene chest waders. They had a great selection...all price ranges when i bot them sever years ago. Hodgman's make great waders but a lil pricey.

I use the Hodgmans stocking foot neoprene chest waders and felt soled boots when fishing the creeks.
I like them because I have a nasty tendency to wade in over the top of hip waders and chest waders eliminate this.
I would also suggest getting a walking stick to assist in wading the creek. I found myself on my knees in the creek one day because I lost my footing and didn't have anything with me to keep me from falling.

I would like to hear that story for sure. ;D It wasn't in the main creek thank goodness as waters were high & fast. Happened at Elk years ago, crossing the tributary above Whitemans hill (for those that know the area). Trib was running pretty good also.....was trying to balance & walk across a log, well, lets just say I'm not real acrobatic. ;D (BTW, it was about a 3ft drop into about 3 ft of water.... ) I then promptly repeated George Carlins 7 words you can't say on TV in record time!! ;D

I just purchased my waders and decided to try them out on the Yough river. To make a long story short, as I was leaving the parking lot a gentleman pulled in. Ten minutes later, I was back at the parking lot changing into dry clothes. The gentleman was still getting his stuff ready and when he saw me, the only thing he said was " That didn't take long" As wet and cold as I was, I had to chuckle at his comment. ;D

For wading shoes try choltas with felt and spiked bottoms( dont buy extra spikes, they are really only sheet metal screws), a very comfortable boot, i also bought simms middle of the road breathable chest waders, nice in the summer and in the winter just include a pair of fleece under, they dont hold up well in the brush though but are very comfortable waders.
