I was in a "high end" shop today and saw a Merkle break open single shot .308. The gun had a manlicher type stock with a Swarofsky scope with swing away mounts and express sights. Absolutely beautiful wood with a very nicely engraved receiver. If I was about 40yrs younger it would have gone home with me, but at my age $3500 is a bit too high to pay and too short a time to expect a increase in it's value. Sure was nice to hold it and dream a bit though.

I was at the range a few years ago, and a fellow club member was there with a SxS 45-70 it also was a Merkel. He had it converted to 45-70, It was originally a SxS 16ga shotgun.It was one of the most beautiful guns that I had ever seen!
