Is it possible to remove the bolt from a 7600 without removing the slide tube and barrel? If so, How?

Gully - don't know if the 7600 is setup like the 760 was, but in order to remove the bolt you had to remove both the slide tube and barrel. Dad had us completely disassemble any 760 we used for hunting at the end of every season. Was a real pain in the butt

Thanks Todd. That's what I keep thinking. If I remember it takes a special tool that goes into the holes in the lide tube to unscrew it, and that holds the entire barrel and slide tube in the action. I don't have the tools necessary to do it so I guess I'll defer that operation to my local gunsmith. I just felt that the gun was over due for a complete cleaning and while apart I would replace the slide o-ring.

THAT tube is also what sets the headspace...be very careful to count the number of turns because you action will not close if it's to tight or to loose..I did this on my old 760..they had a turnable by hand system where the stud holes are drilled for mounting a sling..I was sitting in the stand one day and just turned it a few turns thinking nothing about, when I stood up my action feel open..needless to say I started turning the other way until it closed in a hurry...the ole man' would have been screeming on that one...
