Anyone do these in the "off" season?? Whether it's AKC Hunt Tests, Field Trials, NAVHDA, NAHRA, or NSTRA. Great way to keep the dogs skills sharp and have some fun!!

Used to go to the SPRINGER trails up Colonel Hunters farm. What was great about that is that a springer trials you shoot the birds and have a great meal with them afterwards. Sure beats the taste of a throw dummy

I watched a Springer trial once at Grand Valley Hunting Preserve in OH, there was a Shoot-to-Retrieve going on there the following weekend. We did the same at the Shoot to Retrieve events, clean & eat the birds after. Safety issues only allow blanks to be used in FT on course, but the hunt tests in Senior and Master levels, the birds are shot on course many times, sometimes blanked until you get to the "bird field".(a designated field that only the handlers, gunners and judges can enter, any gallery following the brace cannot go into)
