I am looking for an e-collar that is under $200. I know tri-tronics have really good collars, but most are $300 and up. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks!

I haven't used any of those collars, make sure you get at least 1/2 mile range, you'd be surprised how quick a dog can get out that far, especially if they decide to chase something when you can't see them. I'll look into these collars for you.......

There aren't enough choices in the poll, Sportdog has many collars, I have a Sportdog Upland Hunter collar.

Mark, asked around about these collars & no one has used one. Can't find any pros/cons for ya, sorry!! Best I can help you is get the one with the furthest range and several levels of correction. Do yard work prior to using it in an actual hunting situation with her. Any luck with finding a training club by you???

Thanks for the info Ann. I think I am going with the Sportdog by Petsafe. I also found some good hunting clubs in my area (South Central PA). If anyone is interested they can go to a great website and find hunting clubs/preserves in Pennsylvania. Go to www.gamebirdhunts.com. After you get to the site, just scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Pennsylvania and it will list all the hunting clubs/preserves in PA.

Thanks thunderbolt for the info. I already purchased the sportdog 400 and it works perfect. Actually, I don't think I have used the shocker yet. When I hit the beeper button she comes right to me. I also use it on my Airedale at times. Again, the beep is all it takes. My Airedale is a totally different dog when I put the collar on him. I just wish I would have bought the 2 dog system. You are correct about it being great for the $. Someone told me I should have bought a Tritronics collar. I am glad I didn't. The $150 Sportdog works just as good as the $300-$400 collars. I highly recommend it.

Yeah slack...the beeper does work great....i mostly got it for safety for my dog...i hunt alot of fields....and once in a while a deer or fox will run across the field.....and i don't want my Lab getting hit by a car....so its for her own protection...i went threw all the stages of trainning in the last year and i still make her wear it even though she's fully trainned....its a tool....and should be only used when needed....Thunderbolt125...

look at the Innotek TT100-A they are a great collor and if you go on ebay you can find them as cheap at 169. My buddy has on and it is great. The only reason I dont use one is becasue they can not control two dogs only one.
