I have a hunt planed with freinds on the 15th for woodcock and if it is not too hot on the 13th I am oing to try him on grouse. What we need is some colder weather or the dogs are not going to last long.

The heat can be a problem for the coated guys for sure!! Doesn't bother my young dogs to much, especially since they've been getting run so much in it, as long as its below 80-82 they'll run all day. The older ones don't tolerate it as well & don't last as long, an hour is about their limit in heat anymore. Right now since we can't run anywhere(week prior to youth hunt) they haven't been out since Sunday & are driving me NUTZ!!!!! They need a run badly......ugh, another week before I can get them all out to run. The ones I'm doing youth hunts with are the older ones - young ones will be bonkers by grouse season.

I am just taking Whisky out now and running him for condition. I am done planting anything I am not going to shoot. I am looking forward to next year so I can volunteer to help out at a youth hunt. Come on frost!

Frost??? Whats that??? You have to start small, wish for 50's first....... ;D Aaah, it won't be long now!! Nothing like the smell of a cold crisp morning in the woods. To bad you weren't closer John....be a blast to get the "kids" together on some grouse & woodcock.
