Good for you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do my Equinox. Try the Fastflight Flemish string rather than the endless loop Dacron string that it comes with from Excalibur. Mine shoots more accurately and about 20 fps faster with it. I'm actually getting close to the 350 fps they advertise. i would but I'm more interested in saving my limbs then the 20fps because with the Dacron it almost acts like a rubber band during a dry fire so the limbs are less likely to crack or break

frank.... I've hunted with rifle, handgun, muzzleloader and a recurve. But bad wings made me consider the crossbow. Best choice I could have made. These days I'm retired and in the stand most every day (my wife says I'm 'deer watching'). I still take out the light-kicking 7/08, largely to be with the boys in camp, when that season is on. But day in and day out it's the X bow. I love it. No doubt the recurve and compound is more challenging because of the draw. But a quality compound can shoot farther accurately than (most) X bows and is much quieter so several shots on the same target are possible; which, due to noise and motion of cocking, is highly unlikely with X bow. I find the X bow much more accurate at 30 yards and under. So, I see it as a even up trade. But to each his own. Do your thing if that's what makes you happy. For some, and especially those us us who can't draw a vertical, the X bow is a blessing.
