Never tried it but hope to this year.
I know they stock trout up at Hunters Lake in Sullivan County near my huntin camp.... for the Winter Season. Was thinkin 150 miles north from here may help extend the ice season some.
Anyone ever ice fish for trout?

Yes, I do alot of icefishing some on State Stocked Lakes and the trout tend to be larger. I can only assume they are larger because they are held longer at the hatchery. I fish Chapman Dam in Warren County and various other State Lakes in Beaver, Allegheny, and Venango Counties. Though my favorite is Preque Isle Bay for Sunnies, Crappies, and Smelt.

I perfer icefishing rods but also use light tip-ups to fill out my limit of five devices. Tip-ups are fun, you look up and you have a flag but I do better with the rods. I use meal worms, maggots, grubs, small minnies, and power bait. I usually drop to the bottom and bring off the bottom six to eight inches. Moving your bait periodically helps get their attention. I have an icehouse and use a Mr. Buddy Heater, I can usually sit in there in a long sleeve shirt. Comfort when sitting on a block of ice is essential for the patience needed for hardwater success.

Sounds like a great set-up you got there. When you get out there...be sure to snap a pic & post-up here of your set-up plus if you catch any fish...include them too! Sounds pretty darn comfortable!! ;D
Im puttin an order together for cabelas. Cant wait to see mrs loggys experession when the tracor trailer pulls up to deliver!! ;D Daughters gave me some cabelas gift cards. Mrs will be amazed how much stuff they can buy!! (with a lil help of course! ;D)

I always had better luck on jigging poles intill I found out how to catch them on Tip ups. I always used to put fat heads on the bottom but now about 2 or 3 ft under the ice It works great on stockies.
